How lovely is this pair of metallic ankle boots?! Metallic is a trend for me that’s here to stay and there’s no better way to add an interesting touch to an outfit than with a pair of shiny shoes. My silver Kurt Geiger trainers have been a perfect match with pretty much all outfits, from all black skirt-and-turtleneck combos to cosy knits and black jeans. For winter, I’ve decided to update my wardrobe with a pair of these beautiful tarnished gold ankle boots from Urban Outfitters. I’ve had my eye on these beauties ever since I spotted them in the Southampton store before Christmas, but at £85, I couldn’t really justify another pair of boots. Luckily for me, they were reduced to £40 in the Boxing Day sale so I was finally able to get my hands on them! After my M&S suedette sock boots have scuffed more than usual in such a short space of time, I was ready for a fresh new pair and decided that a leather pair would last significantly longer.
The quality is pretty good and they look quite high-end compared to some of the other gold boots I’ve seen on the high street. The leather is really soft and almost buttery, and I like the tarnished, imperfect effect as it means that I don’t have to worry about scuffing them too much, since it will look like it’s just part of the design! The heel is also the perfect height as it adds a few inches without being too high to walk in for daytime. I also like how slim-fitting they are, since I have tiny feet, and they look really elegant and flattering on. I ordered both my size and the size up just to be sure, and I was almost determined to keep the bigger size but decided against it at the last minute as they were just too wide, and looked a little odd when I walked around in them. They are definitely a slim fit so I would recommend going up a size if you have wider feet!
After spending all day in them yesterday, however, I have to admit that they are not the most comfortable pair of boots I’ve owned. While the leather is really supple around the top, the part of the shoe that holds the ankle in has been stiffened to provide more support, which ends up rubbing against my ankles. However, I’m hoping that once I wear them in a little, they will become more flexible and more comfortable to wear. I think that this is a small price to pay for such a beautiful pair of boots!
They are, unfortunately, now sold out but you can still pick up a pair of the rose gold or metallic orange ones, the latter being at only £25 and still in stock in most sizes! There are also some alternatives on the high street, like this square-toe pair from Dune, Park Lane chelsea style or soft gold ones from Topshop. I can’t wait to wear these for NYE tomorrow! What do you think of metallic boots? Do you share my love for them or is it a trend that you’d prefer to skip?
