a yummy start to the New Year

Happy New Year, everyone! I hope you all welcomed the New Year in a lovely way, whether you got dressed up for a night out or had a cosy night in with films and pyjamas. Mine was a little different this year and I’ll be putting up a post about it soon, so keep your eyes peeled. For now, I just wanted to share a quick post about my yummy start to this year. Feeling fresh, albeit a little tired, Dave and I decided to make the most of this day and set out in search of a New Year’s Day brunch somewhere in the New Forest. Surprisingly, it wasn’t very easy to find. The only place advertising brunch was Chewton Glen, which was slightly out of our budget, costing the same as a short city break! Luckily,  our favourite place in Lymington knew just what we were looking for and was serving breakfast until midday at a more reasonable price. Stanwell House Hotel is a lovely boutique hotel on the Lymington High Street with two really nice restaurants, one of which is in a bright and airy conservatory at the back of the hotel. The decor at this hotel is just beautiful in a very chic English countryside way. It’s also very dog-friendly so we always see really cute four-legged creatures sitting obediently at their owners’ feet!

The morning menu was small but appetising. Being a big lover of sweet things, I ordered the pastry selection, which came with a croissant and three little danishes, plus a soya latte. My breakfast also included a set of four little Tiptree preserves:  marmalade, honey, strawberry jam and morello cherry jam. Heaven on a plate! Dave had the eggs florentine with the most amazing hollandaise sauce.

Following our delicious breakfast, we took a walk down to the harbour, passing by lots of cute shops and quaint cafes. Lymington is probably my favourite town in the New Forest as it’s quite built up, which means that it doesn’t feel like you are in the middle of nowhere, but still has that lovely small town feel with narrow cobbled streets and pastel coloured houses. Plus, I got to wear my new metallic boots, which was very exciting in itself. Have you seen my post about them? I love how they add an interesting edge to an outfit but still go with pretty much anything.

We had a very chilled, relaxing day and spent the rest of it watching the new adaptation of Agatha Christie’s The Witness for the Prosecution on BBC. We’ve also decided to go out for breakfast and brunch more often this year! How did you spend the first day of 2017? I’d love to hear about your day and how you saw the start of the New Year!

Theres something about cobble streets that I love. And the cute little architecture of the shops make the town appealing! Love your photos, is that an actual camera or from your phone, they’re perfect! You go on such cute adventures! Love following them.

Cobbled streets instantly transform a town don’t they! I used my camera for these and then edited them on my MacBook a little! Thank you so much 😊 and aww that’s really lovely to hear! It’s great just exploring places around where you live – it’s surprising how many things you can find to do without going too far! 💕 xxx
