a Sunday afternoon date at Burley Manor

A few weeks ago, Dave and I decided to continue our tradition of Sunday Funday in the form of an afternoon date at the beautiful Burley Manor in the New Forest. I remember when I first set eyes on its grand exterior at the Burley Village Fair over the summer, a beautiful manor house in the distance perfect for a special occasion like a wedding… I have a bit of a thing for anywhere that’s wedding venue-worthy it seems! I knew that it would be just the kind of place that I love. If you look closely, you might be able to spot some deer in one of the photos below, as there is actually a deer reserve just in front of the manor – you can’t get more New Forest than that!

Inside the plush and velvety bar area, we chose some comfy seats tucked away towards the back with a beautiful view overlooking the grounds of the hotel. The atmosphere was cosy and relaxed, just what to expect on a lazy Sunday afternoon. The wine list here is extensive, with plenty of traditional and New World choices, and very well priced. I was in the mood for something French so I opted for the Petit Papillon Grenache Blanc, which was just wonderful – quite light with delicate flavours of peach (my favourite!) and pineapple. It came in a 250ml carafe so it was perfect for a long afternoon of lounging around. To complement our drinks, Dave ordered one of the tapas options since he was feeling peckish (when is he not?) and this was delicious too. There are also lots of events on at the manor throughout the year, such as the flower arranging afternoon coming up in the summer, which sounds like the most blogger-worthy thing to do! I’ll have to keep my eyes peeled for that closer to the time. We stayed until the sky turned an inky shade of blue and decided to move on to some other pubs in Burley, just a short walk away.

Burley Manor has quickly turned into our favourite place in the area thanks to its beautiful grand exterior, cosy decor and the fact that it’s very local to us. Dave and I are actually going there again tonight to celebrate our anniversary so I’m very excited to try the food properly! There’s nothing I love more than a lazy Sunday spent in the New Forest, and this is the perfect place just for that.

What’s your favourite way to spend a Sunday? Have you been to Burley Manor before?

What a beautiful spot that is, perfect place for a Sunday Funday day date. Whenever I come across cute places similar to the Burley Manor, I always think to myself…”hmm cute spot for a wedding-venue” you know, for future references haha Gotta keep these places in mind!! I absolutely love your outfit the gold booties with the nave blue coat such a good combination! I love that Daves even wearing blue too. How perfect 🙂 I also notice that you guys have the same struggle that Andrew and I do….when it’s just you two, there’s no way to get full length pictures of the two of you together so the pictures end up being either you or him haha….this is where a professional photographer would come in handy so we can get candid pictures taken together rather than individually lol

Ahahaha yesss exactly – it’s good to have a list of potential places just in case 😉 Aww thank youuuu these gold boots are literally attached to my feet atm hahaha. And the colour coordination was totally an accident! 🙈 Yupppp it’s a bit annoying isn’t it! I hate having to ask someone else to take it as I feel like I’m getting in the way of whatever they’re doing 🙊 it would be so cool to just have a photographer on hand like Taylor Swift and her friends! 😅 Thank you for your lovely comment as always! You are such a lovely blogger friend ☺️💗 xxx

You should definitely do a flower arranging course at Burley – would make SUCH a great Instagram story too. Glad you had a lovely anniversary too – all anniversaries should be celebrated whether married or not hehe! xxx
